Shri Jishnu Dev Varma

Hon'ble Governor of Telangana

Shri Jishnu Dev Varma (born 15 August 1957) is an Indian politician serving as the Governor of Telangana since 31 July 2024. A prominent figure from Tripura, he previously served as the 2nd Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura (2018–2023) and as the MLA of Charilam. Beyond politics, he has led the Badminton Association of India and served as president of its Tripura unit.

Early Life & Heritage

Born in Agartala to Ramendra Kishore Debbarma (Military & Home Secretary to Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya), he is a member of the Tripura Royal Family. He holds a B.A. Honours from Calcutta University.
